The Ecofan generates power from the difference between hot and cold (the Seebeck effect) with a patented thermoelectric motor. Simply placing the fan at the extreme back edge of the stove, it begins operating as the stove warms up. The speed increases automatically as the stove temperature rises, and it slows as the stove cools down.
